Thank you and your wonderful team for an excellent program. You were a true "partner" and made Wings Unlimited, look good. The highlight was the party in the jungle. It was a very memorable event and your attention to detail made it so. I look forward to working with Costa Rica DMC Tours again.¨

This tropical nation occupies 19,929 square miles of spectacular and diverse terrain between Nicaragua and Panama, approximately 8 to 11 degrees north of the equator. Costa Rica is part of the Pacific “Ring of the Fire,” containing five of the isthmus’ 42 active volcanoes and dozens of dormant or extinct cones.
There is no winter or summer as defined in North America, although most regions have a green season from June to October and a dry season from November to May. Annual rainfall averages 100 inches nationwide, with some mountainous regions getting up to 25 feet on exposed eastern slopes.
Temperatures vary according to elevation: mean temperatures hover around 72°F in the Central Valley, 82°F on the Atlantic Coast and 89°F on the Pacific Coast.
In biological terms, Costa Rica is one of the wealthiest nations in the world. The country’s varied national parks and preserves, covering almost 25 percent of the national territory, protect vast extensions of wilderness that boast more than 9,000 kinds of flowering plants, 231 species of mammals, 383 kinds of reptiles, 830 species of birds and more than 2,000 butterfly species.
In addition to its natural assets, Costa Rica enjoys a rich historical and cultural heritage. The country’s principal museums display impressive collections of pre-Columbian artifacts, and the rich heritage of Costa Rica’s Spanish colonial period is reflected in Catholic churches that are the central point of every town. Festive rodeos and horse parades mark rural celebrations.
Costa Rica is exalted as a tiny oasis of peace and prosperity in a region often plagued by civil strife, Historical events, visionary leaders and an enlightened approach to democracy, social welfare and education plus aboliltion of the army, all has contributed to the praiseworthy development of this small, distinctive nation. When first discovered by the spaniards the country was virtually ignored for its lack of riches, but the Costa Rican people have proved that all that glitters is not gold.
Recommend Magazine, one of the world’s most widely read magazines in the travel industry recognized Costa Rica as the Best Destination for Adventure and Ecotourism in the World.
Destination Information.
Costa Rica
Central (American) Location
Costa Rica has one of the best airline services in the Caribbean basin, with daily flights from New York, Washington DC, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Mexico and most Latin American countries.
Communications & Technology
Costa Rica is 3rd in Latin America on the Technology Index; the high ranking is attributed to the country’s conducive environment for innovation, advanced capacity to receive international technology and export goods with technological content, and its extensive assimilation of new information and telecommunication technologies.
Ticos
Our people are friendly and well educated, attributes no doubt fostered by the country’s democratic tradition and respect for foreign cultures. English is widely spoken in every corner of the nation.
Biologically Diverse
Boasting two coasts, an amazing variety of climates and a geographical foothold between two continents, Costa Rica is regarded as one of the world’s most biologically diverse countries. The diminutive country covers barely 19,929 square miles, but 5% of the world’s flora and fauna species are represented here.
The Nobel Peace Prize
A strong commitment to peace, along with a firm belief that his country’s past successes could also take root in other Central American countries, led former President Dr. Oscar Arias to devise a Central American Peace Plan that earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987. Arias remains a leader of world demilitarization. Costa Rica has no army.

Nowhere else will you find so many varied, crazy, mild or out-of-the-ordinary adventures in one place, including: whitewater rafting, rain forest zip lines, active volcanoes, deep-sea fishing, ATV adventures, surfing and an aerial tram ride.
